When you are in charge of the catering, it can be a nerve racking experience. You want to make sure that everyone is happy with the choices that you make. You also want to make sure that you have enough food and that you stay under budget. While it is understandable you might be nervous, it is possible for you to put together a great event with great catering.
There are a few tips which you should keep in mind when approaching your catering needs. By understanding these tips you will be able to put together an event everyone will remember for a long time to come. Take your time and take good notes and you will be able to accomplish all of the goals you had for your event and still be able to enjoy it for yourself.
- Know Your Guests – Any time you are catering an event, it is a good idea to keep in mind the palates of those who will be attending. If you know you will have people in attendance with special dietary needs, it is important to make sure that those needs will be met. Tell your caterer up front what dietary needs your group has, so they can be sure to have everything in order.
- Choose a Date – So much of what you are doing will ride on the date that you choose. Choose a date which will make it possible for all who need to attend to be there. Often a good day to use for a catering even is on a Tuesday or a Wednesday. Less people are obligated out to other things in the middle of the week. Check schedules if necessary.
- Get a Guest Count – While it is not possible at times to get an exact guest count, it is important to get at least a minimum and maximum count of people. This will help to determine how much food you will order. It will also help you to decide exactly where you will have all of the food presented at.
- Choose the Caterer – Obviously, we here at J & J’s Deli and Catering are a little biased on this point. But, we know we aren’t the right match for every event. If you have to look beyond this site, look for an established caterer with good reviews so that you will have a better chance of getting good food. Also look for a caterer who prepares all food from scratch using only the finest ingredients. You should not have to pay a lot extra just to get good food. The right caterer will also be able to help you save money.
- Enjoy the Event – Now it is time to enjoy all of your hard work. If all has gone according to plan, you will know exactly what you are doing and all you will need to do is follow through. Go ahead and have some great food and interact with your guests. They are sure to enjoy what you have put together as well.
The more times you go through the process, the better at planning catering you will become. Plus, when you link up with a great caterer you’ll be able to call them directly for future catering needs and skip all that hunting and explaining.
